The Dwarven Kingdoms

Overview

The Dwarven Kingdoms of Norn Lodar trace their origins back to the ancient days when the first Dwarven clans emerged from the depths of the earth from the lands far north, drawn to the rich veins of precious metals and gemstones hidden within the mountains. These clans, led by visionary and indomitable leaders, carved their homes from the living rock and established a series of holds and fortresses across the vast mountain range that would come to be known as Thal Gorum, the "Eternal Peaks."

The Dwarven Kingdoms were founded on the principles of craftsmanship, honor, and a deep connection to the earth. Over centuries, the clans of Thal Gorum grew in power and influence, uniting under the banner of a single king to form a confederation of Dwarven holds. This unity was not easily achieved; it was forged through countless battles against common foes, including marauding orcs, cunning goblins, and the ever-present threat of the Underdark's denizens.

King Durgrim Ironfist, the current ruler, hails from the storied lineage of the Ironfist clan, one of the most ancient and revered of all Dwarven clans. The Ironfists have ruled from the mountain hold of Ironhold for generations, their authority stemming not just from their martial prowess, but from their unmatched skill in metallurgy and stonecraft. The Ironhold itself, located deep within the heart of Norn Lodar, is a testament to the Dwarves' architectural genius, with grand halls, towering statues, and intricate forges that have been in operation for millennia.

Under Durgrim's leadership, the Dwarven Kingdoms have enjoyed a period of relative peace and prosperity, though the King remains vigilant. The borders of Thal Gorum are constantly patrolled, and the forges of Ironhold burn day and night, producing weapons, armor, and tools of unmatched quality. The Dwarves of Norn Lodar are known for their strong sense of duty to their kin and their relentless work ethic, qualities that have allowed them to thrive in the harsh and unforgiving environment of the mountains.
