Argemont

A small town built on the banks of the Emerald Stream following The Entente Cordiale as a testament to the alliance between the United Human Baronies and the Dwarven Kingdoms. It is located in the Kaldur Vale in between two mountain ranges where the lands are lush and farmlands are abundant.

History

Argemont was founded as a settlement in 2906 following the singing of The Entente Cordiale between the humans of the United Human Baronies and the Dwarves of the Dwarven Kingdoms.

Its' location was that of a standoff during the Human-Dwarf conflict of 2904 otherwise known as the "War of the Vale" (Dwarves) or "Dwarven Incursion of Kaldur" (Humans). During the, what were soon to be, last days of the fighting, the army Commander of the United Baronies discovered a Dwarven force much smaller than the one he himself commanded, and so, instead of exploiting his advantage, he and his aide met with the Dwarves under a banner of truce. During this short window where hostilities had ceased, he would plead with the Dwarven commander that they both informed their respective governments and await for further instructions.

Neither side wished to escalate the conflict even further which could drag the whole region into chaos. This prompted the Dwarven Kingdoms and the United Human Baronies to enter into negotiations which in turn resulted into an end of hostilities.

Leadership

During the founding of Argemont, the Humans and Dwarves agreed that instead of a single ruler, there should be a council of sorts to guarantee a shared power where no single person could use the town to the advantage of a single race. Therefore, Argemont is led by a council of seven members elected from an equal number of Dwarves and Men, chaired by a neutral seventh member elected by the council who acts as a neutral solely in the interest of Argemont.
